Adamantine

Gone are the days of careless laughter,
Of gazing at the skies waiting for the rain
Gone are the days when a single stare
Would make you want to stop swimming
And rest for a while, in a blissful bubble
Now the howling of the wind makes you fall asleep
And daylight makes you feel vulnerable
You’re a bird with a broken wing
Whose desire to fly is still alive
And you’re still afraid of falling
Because you love your pride
With a passion only matched
By your willingness to swim endlessly
In this sea of madness
