Salt Water

I was slightly confused,

Caught between the cage and the sky

Just a fire-eater in search of water

You offered me the ocean,

And more

Knowing one day I would long for the flames

And swim my way back to the shore

But the taste of salt water still lingers in my mouth

And all my best-laid plans have gone south

Surely it’s madness to wish for some rain now
